This statement was published on June 20, 2025. The assessment is based on a self-assessment.
State of compliance with requirements
The website www.mardi4nfdi.de does not meet all accessibility requirements.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:
When texts and mathematical formulas are primarily addressing scientists. Mathematical research can only be expressed in highly complex formulas. Due to the complexity and the use of common technical terms, abbreviations, formula symbols, and symbols, some content cannot be translated into Easy-language. This would cause a disproportionate burden as defined in Article 5 of Directive EU 2016/2102 and §12a (6) BGG.
If they do not offer services that are essential for the public or services specifically tailored to the needs of people with cognitive disabilities and thereby fall under the exemption clause of §12a (5) BGG.
If the files linked on the website do not fall under the documents listed in §11 BGG (administrative decisions, general orders, public law contracts, or forms from public authorities).
If these are archives that do not provide content required for active administrative procedures and thereby fall under the exemption clause §2 (2) 2. BITV 2.0.
If elements cannot be automatically converted into an accessible form. This applies, for example, to images, videos, audio files, and interactive applications; in particular, to content provided by third parties for which the copyright holder has not given consent for modification in accordance with the German Copyright Act §23 UrhG.
Planned measures to remove barriers
The website www.mardi4nfdi.de is being reviewed in accordance with the principles of accessible design and will be modified where possible.
The basis for the design of accessible digital products are the German Barrier-Free Information Technology Regulation (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung BITV 2.0) as well as the recommendations for German Easy Language (Empfehlungen für Deutsche Leichte Sprache DIN-Spec 33429). These refer, among other things, to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1), the international standard of the W3C consortium. According to this standard, accessibility must consider the following criteria:
Perceivability
Operabibilty
Understandability
Robustness
(Responsiveness for different end devices and compatibility with assistive technologies)
These elements are being reviewed step by step and redesigned to be accessible:
Non-text-based content is only partially provided with alternative text and therefore does not yet meet the requirements of §3 (2) 2. BITV 2.0 in context to standards 9.1.1.1 EN 301549 (V3.2.1 2021-03) and 1.1.1 WCAG 2.1 (2025).
Some links are only partially provided with a link context and therefore do not yet meet the requirements of §3 (2) 2. BITV 2.0 in context to standards 9.2.4.4 EN 301549 (V3.2.1 2021-03) and 2.4.4 WCAG 2.1 (2025).
On mobile devices, some buttons are not optimized for use by people with impaired vision and therefore do not yet meet the contrast and size requirements of standards 1.4.3 and 2.5.5 WCAG 2.1 (2025).
